Re: CRYENGINE Wishlist Community

Most of the stuff wished here is actually confirmed to be added :D. Here is my two cents on what I want:
Better C# API, Unity type of easy.
    Material/Shader editor tool.
Live update in Sandbox for code.
Better terrain system (Especially the textures, what is up with the high pass?! :x
    Spline support in Sandbox.
More intuitive FBX importer (like importing textures/materials along with model automatically like in Unreal Engine 4, my guess is this will be implemented when the new material/shader editor will be added.)
    Better asset browser.

1) https://trello.com/c/X9H9hD1a/115-video-playback Video Playback card has been in for some time already :)

2) "Node Graph Shader is directly-exactly officially confirmed? Just in my opinion this is a huge step in changing the engine, but no information is available! Crytek, as always, is silent as partisans. And this new shader editor will be released as quietly as Schematyc"
Nothing is known so far. And yes I agree it would be great if some kind of dev-community interaction in terms of usecases, expectations etc would take place. However in some or another way, Material Editor will change.
https://trello.com/c/FE5BnGHJ/28-node-graph-shader Its reflected with a card in the wishlsit{

3) "What about realtime PTEX textures instead of UVs ? Nvidia has already tried something."
This is really interesting, reading the paper now. Thank you. I am not sure how well it would work with current standard authoring tools tho.
I agree tho this looks like something very promising. I have added a card: https://trello.com/c/nzlIoDt9/135-research-ptex

4) "I would very much like to see in the engine such technology"
The video is not available anymore.

5) @7ri Are you sure that cheat protection is something a game engine should handle? Do Unity or UE4 do that?

6) https://trello.com/c/RemdUXgV/79-ui-fam ... eplacement UI Replacement/In Editor UI can be found in this card.

7) Wrt Antialiasing, https://trello.com/c/8cFYjZOE/44-antialiasing-pass Here you can find a card for it.

8) Traffic is something that is too game specific probably. However procedural tools imo should be improved and is on the wishlist

9) Terrain improvements are on the roadmaps and in fact Vlad has been working on the terrain lately. First improvements can be found in 5.4. The zone system that anton has been looking into, might be what you are after with segmented worlds. However all of that is uncertain and RnD as far as I know.

I'm fairly simple to please; the engine has ledge grabbing, sliding, etc. What I'd like a built-in cover system (like in Homefront: The Revolution, where you can peak), aiming down the sights near edges causes a lean (Crysis 2 and Destiny), being able to pick up anything not bolted down and wack/throw things with them (all of the Crysis games), being able to punch when weaponless, and a simple-ish inventory system (like in Prey—the modern System Shock). I know there are tutorials on here for some of the content I like, but I'm not very skilled to program/don't have enough of a budget to buy the correct software.

I know most of these things have to be scripted by developers for their specific game, but I can dream, can I? I'd be happy with the stock character's arms moving when he walks (when he's not holding a weapon).

So basicly you want an already finished game by a push of a button?

No, nothing like that; most of those were wishful thinking. The only part I was serious was the grab and wack that was in an earlier build (though, I'm not sure if updating the sample in this current version of the engine would be worth the trouble) even if the boxes the player could pick up hovered in front of the character.

I did manage to find a tutorial on how to make an inventory system out of scratch in the forums here; here's hoping I can understand it.

I didn't mean any disrespect, and I apologize.
