Import Mixamo Character into CRYENGINE with Animations (any source)

I've created a tutorial on how to import a character created in the Mixamo Character Creator (Adobe Fuse) into CRYENGINE, and re-target animations from a motion capture source onto the character and then import those into CRYENGINE.

This is a step by step tutorial. You will need CRYENGINE 5.4 (or above), Autodesk Maya 2016 / 2017, and Autodesk Motionbuilder 2016.

IMPORTANT: Ignore 00:6:08 through to 00:7:02. This footage was cut out of the video for the first cut, but slipped back in when I had to re-edit the video.

Optionally, you may wish to use a custom FBX hacking tool I wrote to re-name animations and apply a few small fixes to the Mixamo file prior to import.

A very concise summary of the steps can be found in the Chrysalis project wiki. ...

Crispin Broadhurst from Motus / Mocap Online created a very helpful video on animation re-targeting which you might find useful to watch. It can provide greater details for steps that are glossed over in this video. ...

The magic PowerShell command I executed to get the animsettings files created from a template was:

ls -Recurse -Filter "*.i_caf" | foreach { cp ~/Documents/animsettings.json "$($_.DirectoryName)/$($_.BaseName).animsettings"}

If you have any questions, either post them in the comments, or on the official CRYENGINE forums or contact me directly on the community Slack (details for signup on the forums).
