Re: Cryengine 5.4 in late April ?

When you look at the number of employees on wiki page :
Crytek - 552
Epic Games - 250
Why the hell is engine development so slow then ??
Outdated, bro.
Don't forget that Epic Games had a huge head start with Unreal Engine 4, years worth of head start. Crytek is still shaping CryEngine 5, it's still in alpha/beta, it could change exponentially in the coming years, while Unreal Engine 4 is going to stay how it is. Adding features that change how the whole engine works is difficult, time consuming work. That Entity-Component system must have been difficult work in order to implement. Also the information as said by myouki, is outdated, the CryEngine team is much smaller than the Unreal Engine 4 team.

Can't wait anymore - the next 2 releases are exciting. Looking forward to what they do with cryengine.
Have to agree. Really looking forward to the removal of all the proprietary stuff. Just want to import .obj and industry standard texture/image file extensions. Really want to see the evolution of that asset browser.

The new component system is amazing. No wonder it took them so long.
Schematyc and entity are unified. Every entity registered can function as a schematyc node.
CMake build doesn't work for some reason.
To sum up : Substance integration, entity and schematic unification, simplyfing adding network functionality, remove old legacy stuff, the new terrain and mesh blending
Actor system and game rules system replaced with generic entity system, being able to import any image format, new asset browser,
UQS now usuable(though I haven't tested it yet). Terrain texture high pass filter adjustable in the material editor. Drag and drop textures into asset browser,,, The list goes on.
I think they really delivered this time.
