Clothes, how to set up and attach to player?

#1
Hi. I am trying to create armor system for my game. I have a lot of options, but need help with this, I can't get this to work. So.. apart from metal armor, which will be stiff, I also want to attach some soft type of armors, I check all documentations of the Cryengine, but they are all old and not clear. Trust me. I've been through all of that before posting it, so don't give me links to that. I checked on rope entities, clothes, attachments and so on, but I can't understand what is this all about. Let's say I want to make a simple t-shirt. I don't want to animate each attachment and attach as .skin. That is not the right way I believe. Should I create model with its own skeleton (like documentation says with Rope1_Seg01...... and so on). I did that, but I don't know what attachments to use in Character tool, how to set this up? I know nothing, so please help me with this. Once I figure this out I'll help community and make video tutorial about it. Thank you!

Thank you for help, but I have already been through those posts. Still don't know.. should my cloth have it's own skeleton? Some videos show that it shouldn't, documentation shows that it should. I tried both. Does not work. Should I create it with my character and bind it to character skeleton? Or maybe I can create that separately and just attach it later? I tried everything, the most simple clothes. Nothing even moves. I painted all weights on vertexes as it should be. Don't know whether my .skin cloth attachment should be part of original character and be bind to its skeleton or not. Crytek's youtube account.. I watched that video many times before, but from the beginning it shows character together with cloth already combined. It doesn't show the workflow and that's what I'm missing.

Alright, I have figured out SOMETHING, so I will share. If you want to create VCloth attachment for your character, you need to create .skin file in maya, and bind it with your character skeleton - just like you do with your body mesh (head, upper body etc.). I managed to create simple "cape" for the character and it works quite well, just need to learn what the particular settings of the VCloth do, then I'll do tutorial from the VERY BEGINNING on how to create VCloth attachment. For now I'll keep working on it and learning. Video tutorial coming soon. Thank you!
