Architecture advice on player's tools/weapons.

What is the most popular way of creating tools for a player if they have individual internal states and functionality and network sync, is creating an entitycomponent for each tool and attaching it to the player a valid approach, maybe there is a better way to implement such behaviour.

Using the EntityComponent system is a valid approach. You might also design a system that would tie these components together into a coherent system.
