Weapon question

I'm new to Cryengine and gameplay programming in general,
Been trying to figure out how to make a simple combat system where there's a hitbox at the end of a weapon (or something similar).

Am I able to attach a "hitbox" onto an jointattachment, and or is there a better way?

I've read about proxy, collisions, and something about rigid body, not really sure which one because I just want to receive a hitResult (something like unreal's)
