Re: Pathfinder component

At the moment it's not possible to use the C++ default components in C#. That means that you can add the default components to entities in your C# project, but you won't be able to interact with them directly from your C# code (this is something we're researching to possibly add in the future). So f...

Re: Package Build does not include terrain resources

You're right that having the pak files in there is not nice for source control. The reason why dds files are not copied by default though, is because the Resource Compiler cannot assume that the dds files are compiled for the right platform (for example pc, linux, xbox etc.). But if you don't have t...

Re: Package Build does not include terrain resources

Ah ok, I think I understand what's going wrong. When you package a build, the Resource Compiler goes through your assets and grabs all the source files it needs to compile. But .dds files are already compiled files so it ignores those. From the RC's perspective this is intended behaviour, but I'm no...

Re: Package Build does not include terrain resources

Do you have the same issue if you run the game from the .cryproject file? You can do this by right clicking your cryproject file and selecting Launch game . If you have the same issues in there, it could be that you need to export your levels to the engine first. You can do this in the Sandbox by go...

Re: [C#] Level loading screens

If you're using the C# UI to show the images on the screen the crash you're running into is probably caused by the UI creating new textures while the renderer is clearing all textures because it's unloading the level. One way to fix this is to have a dedicated loading-screen level which show 3D geom...

Re: Learning CryENGINE with CryENGINE Game Programming with C++,C# , and Lua

While GameSDK does contain a lot of potential learning material, it is not very easy place to learn the CRYENGINE. On top of that the GameSDK is planned to be removed in the future because it's not entirely up to date with the latest features of the engine. If your goal is to learn C++ in the CRYENG...

Re: Future of C#

Hi YLLY,
We are definitely looking to improve the component system that we have right now. Having references to other entities and components is one of the features we're looking into, but at the moment I can't make any promises on when this will be in the engine.

Re: Learning CryENGINE with CryENGINE Game Programming with C++,C# , and Lua

A good starting point to learn working with the CRYENGINE is to check out the templates as mentioned earlier. You can create C# and C++ templates in the Launcher. The technical documentation on docs.cryengine.com contains several programming tutorials on how to get started with the CRYENGINE. For C#...
