Animation Events (Anyname.animevents) file, is a file for adding events to trigger during an animation being played, like a footstep sound or a particle event going off. It does not effect in any way how the animations play. You must look elsewhere for your problem. It depends on what 3d app you are...

Use Cry Danny's (Danny Man-Crytek Tech) CeMaxutils plugin it addresses the rotate skeleton problem, and can import/export meshes and animations, far better than CrymaxTools.
You can get it on the Marketplace. If you still have problems give me a shout and I will try to assist you.

Works on characters such as; Mixamo, Iclone, Makehuman and other non Cryengine std characters.
