Re: New to CRYENGINE? Our Getting Started Guide has got you covered!

I lost the narrator once he popped open panels and windows that I am unable to locate in Sandbox 5.7. Still missing the basics of project structure and asset import. As any OBJ or FBX that I attempt to import or drag from Explorer folder to AssetBrowser/Assets fails to import or is not shown. Basica...

Asset import of FBX

I admit. I am clueless on CRYEngine . On how it works. But I thought simple things should be simple. FBX import. OK I just do not understand , within CRYEngine, what an asset is. I thought it is just imported from AssetBrowser File/Open. Boy am I wrong. I import (or try to) an FBX asset. Asset Brows...

Re: Tottaly new Cry Engine, but 20 years in CGI, and cannot figure out how to open a sample project.

There are no error messages. OK, I think I have to accept that whatever paradigm there is in CRYENGINE its so far away from traditional 3D of Maya & Houdini, that I have to disregard, everything I know about working with 3D graphics, when working with CRY engine.

Re: Tottaly new Cry Engine, but 20 years in CGI, and cannot figure out how to open a sample project.

Once again. When I do what is described. NOTHING happens. Nothing as in nothing. There are no assets in Assets tab, the layout is empty. Empty as in empty. As if a user creates new project. There multiple tabs in Sandbox, Asset Browser, Camera view, but no content. Now when I open a downloaded example project, after selecting *.cryproject file OPEN, Sandbox takes a few seconds, then... Nothing happens. Sandbox remains empty. No asset...

Re: Tottaly new Cry Engine, but 20 years in CGI, and cannot figure out how to open a sample project.

As for .pak files, those are cryengine compressed files that are automatically read by the engine when inside your Assets folder. You don't need to drag and drop them into the sandbox editor. Just leave them in your assets folder in explorer and they'll automatically be available inside sandbox. [/q...

Tottaly new Cry Engine, but 20 years in CGI, and cannot figure out how to open a sample project.

Tottaly new Cry Engine, but 20 years in CGI, and cannot figure out how to open a sample project. This is embarrassing but I am completely clueless in Cry Engine. I can't even open a downloaded sample , and individual mesh assets do not import. Basically nothing happens, when I open a project. File/O...
